Inspired by the Tomorrow Series.

On April 4th 2023 as night fell, the sky filled with army planes without lights. The residents of Canston, a small town in England, payed very little attention to them and the few that did, believed they were heading back from demonstration. How wrong they were. These planes seen where only a small group of those about to come, the foreign enemy about to invaded. Within the first 24 hours they took each of the run ways and ports, leaving the residents of the small town with no way of getting out. By the time they noticed, the tanks and trucks where rolling across the bridge, the soldiers capturing everyone and taking them to the showground. A small place run by members of the community and somewhere to hold some of their most important town events. Those that didn’t listen and do as exactly what they were told, were dragged away from the rest and shot in the forehead for everyone to see, warning them that they would suffer the same fate if they didn’t follow instructions.

Canston was captured as a beachhead, for an invasion of England by the enemy, the showground becoming a place to detain the people. The street of Canston became the center of the enemy’s activity, the soldiers using houses within the street as base camps and the airfield becoming a major military base.

The invaders believed they had everything under control in this small little town but they were far from right. Although they held most of the towns peoples within the showground, they were still a few people they’d missed. Some had hid in basements, cupboards and attics while the soldiers have turned their homes upside down, waiting quietly until it was safe to come out. Others were teenagers camping in the woods for the week, returning to find their families and friends missing, with no idea what was going on. To begin with they were afraid, how could save their families? They couldn’t fight in a war, they’d never win. They hid in the darkness, wanting to avoid getting captured just like the people they knew. The place they had believed to be safe their entire life, no longer was and the people they cherished so dearly, could have been dead for all they knew.

Now those that are have still managed to keep themselves from being captured, feel anger. They’re beginning to fight back, starting a waging guerrilla war on the enemy soldiers. They’re going to fight for their families, their country and their freedom. Some are doing it alone, hiding out in their destroyed homes until it falls dark, trying to take out the soldiers and blow up their important bases and ways of getting into the town. Others are banding together, becoming a team and making their old bases within the houses on the outskirts of the town and bases within the woods, planning how they’re going to attack the enemy. These normal people, both adults and teenagers are becoming soldiers, getting their hands on enemy weapons and vehicles to help them get from place to place. These people won’t stop until they’ve fought for their town and they’ll do whatever necessary to survive.

I have two things to say to you. Either run as far away as you possibly can and hide until it’s safe, or grab your guns and fight for your freedom.
